Apparently it was Browning, Robert not gravy, who first coined the expression, "less is more".

In writing a haiku
Time ran too quickly.

Okay it's hardly Wordsworth, but then I don't have to sleep with my brother!

He had whiskers on his chinnegan
They fell out and then grew in again

Two poems from the great Sufi poet Rumi:-

Little by little wean yourself.
This is the gist of what I have to say.

From an embryo, whose nourishment comes in the blood,
move to an infant drinking milk,
to a child on solid food,
to a searcher after wisdom,
to a hunter of more invisible game.

Think how it is to have a conversation with an embryo.
You might say "the world outside is vast and intricate.
there are wheat fields and mountain passes,
and orchards in bloom.
at night there are millions of galaxies,and in sunlight
the beauty of friends dancing at a wedding"

You ask the embryo why he,or she, stays couped up
in the dark with eyes closed.
Listen to the answer.

"There is no 'other world.'
I only know what I've experienced.
You must be hallucinating"

Out beyond all ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
theres a field. I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas,language,even the phrase 'each other'
doesn't make sense.

Jelaluddin Rumi. 1207 to 1273

fragile glow
rising.
staining the ridges and stands of pine
cobalt and deep turquoise;
and touching the yellow edges of red ploughed fields on plateau.
stroking the dull plain;
burning hedges and splashing a lone giant tree.
closer, parchment grass glows through mist.
shivering and smelling musty scents;
stamping and the wren curtsies.

A late autumn ride.

Thin high cloud,
preventing you from coming through
preventing your warm and golden hue

I shall have to satisfy myself with golden leaves,
falling and reminding me of your waning warmth

A white dove rests in a ploughed and harrowed field(white on black)
what a contrast!

These silver birches,yellow leaves,
being,
who appreciates?
They don't mind just being.
they are to be and be part of.

open door
cat slithers past
cold hits.
scrape ice off windscreen
inside, car cold, hostile, metallic.
shift out in grey light
left onto empty road.
switch radio,
bloody hell!
how do they keep clean dignity with those burns ?
no elec, burning heat, scant water.
waiting lists, murders, the greens:
music ? none relevant.
switch off.
slow for black ice on corners
up; til Lochnagar behind, standing in crimson.
twisting tightly down, round, up and to A9.
hooligan rich speedsters: 80+.
ease across and cruising to view on right;
damn, tractor. into fast lane and over hill.
Dundee below, estuary bright from sky
and turrets gleaming.
slow-down to roundabout and down; up to queue;
slip left for petrol and out to double roundabout.
City streets: same girl tottering to bus-stop;
purple hair, same skirt, high heels at crazy angles,
trashing fashion.
old guy weaving drunken track outside new shopfront
pale pine and big glass.
workmate slips past
bike-dressed to kill,
rear light flashing.
more glinting water.
thick traffic streaming down, round;
cut across and into workpark.
feeling good, adrenalin rising.
coffee
work.

"Cycle" mag was a bone of contention
Some members made a novel suggestion
Less subs we will pay
To make the mag go away
But were told that was out of the question

i liked that, thanks.

struggling with Haiku:-

no car, no petrol and
no comp. but wind, rain, sun.
sweating and speeding.

sipping juice by road,
clouds shifting colours on tops,
with my bike, happy.

snap view, count petals, spy
buzzard, whenever. laze by
river, whenever.

& thanks Rheon for yours. great.
