Gaz I do believe that to be unfair, as he works for the private sector he might just be having to do some work.

Back on subject. I wonder if a proper risk assessment has been done on the screw in type of bulb in comparison the the bayonet type.

Nope, the OP is enjoying a week off work (a freebie no less) having just completed his project. He's currently in his workshop making low profile clamps for his milling machine.
Although he's also pondering whether a new form of bulb holder designed for 'quick' change might be in order.

His biggest worry is that with budget cuts that the light at the end of the tunnel may need to be 'turned off'.

This afternoon I have to go for an interview at the Place That Drives You Mad for an interview. This is for them to decide if they will represent me next Wednesday when the Judge could well turn my light off.

May I take this opportunity to ask forum members to support their LBS

In the present economic climate it is possible to forget the much valued resource. Where can we get emergency replacement so quickly. The Internet has problems with some stockists claiming stock, only to disappoint with delivery. Some leave people in the dark totally.
The larger chain stores employ people who have no technical knowledge and are not able to help with the unusual items we all need.

So please suport your LBS (Local Bulb Shop)

As LED's and torch bulbs have been mentioned, it might be help full if there was a poll to decide exactly was is in discussion. Then we would have a positive decision
