Hoisted by your own petard...
Source? Sometimes fomenting hatred of groups, no matter how unpopular those groups are in popular consciousness, is unjustifiable and people need their prejudices highlighting. If I used the word nazi first in a discussion spotlighting such prejudice you'll have to show me where. Forum users whose attitudes are reined in on specialist boards often use the coffee bar to air the most outrageously divisive hogwash because they think their specialist knowledge gives them a free ticket to spill bile elsewhere.
Glueman, you take me too seriously. I was being deliberately literal.

A problem people have when they meet me in the flesh, according to the other half a number of people have approached her later to query if I was joking, something to do with my dry sense of humour and deadpan delivery I've been told. Although in this case in retrospect I suspect the "joke" was too subtle. (Should have highlighted the word "nazi" in gluemans post to make my point... (Oh, no - now I too am guilty!)
Anyway, back to trolls. I have an elvish sword but don't know if it glows blue in the presence of trolls or just orcs... I've tried waving it at various posts but nothing has happened, does anyone know if it should?
My Internet forum up bringing has been very limited. This one and a Mental Health one. Kwakers unfortunatly your link does not explain the term Ork in relation to the Internet and this forum.
For my cycling needs I have not felt the need "To play away". I suppose that is why I sometimes stay past the unwritten rules. I suppose for a lot of others using this forum we are not used to Trolls so do not know what to do about them.
By the way if anyone thinks the moderation on here is harsh you should look at an NHS sponsored mental health one.

You do surprise me. I thought being Scouse would explain your argumentative streak. I have even seen you be argumentative with people when you are agreeing with them.

Can moderators know how many people have a user on their 'foe' (ignore) list? One option is to set a limit - once a user is considered a 'foe' by more than a certain number of the rest of the users they could be kicked off.
The forum could also consider getting rid of its Tea Shop. If ever things kick off on a board it's usually in the AOB/coffee bar area, idle hands and all that. Real trolls are easier to spot in the specialist areas, the Tea Shop is usually the place people pick a fight. I don't know why sites have such areas unless it's to indulge bored minds.

Clearly 3 or 4 need to be handled in a heavy handed manner. We would first have to appoint a Troll-Finder General. (Si need not apply, he's too even-handed for the role.)
The Troll-Finder General would conduct a Troll Trial in front of a Billy Goat Court (Suspected Australian Trolls may opt for a Kangaroo Court).
The court could find them either guilty or not innocent.
Only when they've been through the judicial process could the Troll be flamed from the forum in the name of self-righteousness.
