I don't know the location but I think I know who it was named after.
Re: Interesting signs
Can I remind members that traditional fish & chips are on the menu in the tea shop tonight. I photographed this sign in Cornawall a cpouple of weeks ago and it is a beautiful piece of work with wonderful calligraphy. You see so much poor lettering that is badly spaced on signs particularly outdside pubs and restaurants and with too many capitals but this is a superb example of good chalking and would want to have fish and chips in that place on the strenth of that fantastic sign. If you can see any nice examples of chalk board lettering and art then send them in.

I pass this sign in Campsall, near Doncaster, quite often. "Yes, that really is my address, officer."

'Tis beyond the borders of Kent, just, in East Sussex near Winchelsea Station. It was warmer when I was last there and I was much younger too.

Spot on Gaz - I thought it was in Kent, but we were near the border and heading fast for Folkestone (my old home town) so could have well missed 'passport control' in our dash for warmth!

Re: Interesting signs
On a recent trip I took the Padstow harbour ferry, going North from Rock you pass through Splatt and Pityme. 70-80 miles into my ride Pityme seemed to sum up how I was feeling at the time. Unfortunately the photo of the sign didn't come out.

Yes, good names!Russcoles wrote:On a recent trip I took the Padstow harbour ferry, going North from Rock you pass through Splatt and Pityme.
I was on my way back from Wadebridge a year or so ago after riding with a JOGLEer. It threw it down all day and we were soaked. He carried on to LE as I turned for home and I cycled through Washaway.
I made it home "washed out". Tim made it to LE equally washed out!

Yes intimately. (not referring to any particular dumb woman btw)
It's in Udimore...East Sussex actually. Turns off the B road, down across the marsh via Winchelsea to Icklesham
