Down by the bridge that crosses the Wharfe
Huge portions, cheap prices - but don't expect any fancy interiors

You'll queue to get a seat inside in winter, & probably have no chance even outside on a summer weekend

As a guide to prices, last time I was there, I had;
Meat & Potato Pie (proper one, cooked/cut from a baking tray!), Chips (again - proper ones), Peas
Pint of tea
Rhubarb Crumble & Custard
This cost the total price of.......£4.50!!!!!!

Hope these 3 tickle the tastebuds?!

, packed out with bikes, scooters, motorbikes, cars, pedestrians and photographers ! Good luck to all the staff, and I believe the owners are retiring, so wishing them a Happy Retirement and thanks for getting me 'up the hill' a few times; sad day.

I decided to give the recently opened Mamma's Cafe in Victoria Rd Guisley a try the other day. It's the building with the red sign in the background,
P1060077 (432x640).jpg
I couldn't resist putting the breakfast 'A' board in the picture. Nice fresh decor with three stools at counter by the front window . there is seating at the back of the cafe, total capacity 14 persons. The lady owner said bicycles may be parked around the back for safety, entry round the corner off the main drag ( Otley Rd A65, to the right of where this picture is taken from ).
It's a nice friendly place, with very reasonable prices. I just had a pork pie and a coffee, a nice locally made pie, excellent. I liked the ladies comment, 'we don't sell anything we wouldn't eat ourselves', proper ! I'll go back and try a breakfast soon, it's a handy 'fuelling' stop if you're going over Hawksworth moor.
Closed on Sundays and closes at 1.30 Saturdays.Tel ;01943 870812, they are on Facebook; Mammas Cafe or http://www.mammascafe/info .

Sad day....

Specialties Tea Rooms in Stisted have announced that they will close. This weekend is the last one because the owners are retiring, Sunday 23rd March at 4pm.

:( I will never eat a home baked cake there again. :(

Thanks Sean & Carole for nice cakes, hot tea, & towels on wet days.

Gorgeous new cafe in Cheshire. Gorgeous cakes and tea out of china cups, and it is a charity cafe. Very welcoming to cyclists. Would highly recommend.

The Fettlers wharf cafe in Rufford has been taken over by Taste Buds from Mere Brow, so the superb home made pie and mushy peas is available in Rufford now.

If you want something else in the area, Greenstead Farm Shop does nice cream teas http://www.greensteadfarmshop.co.uk/

They do occasionally do a roast dinner on Sundays. If you go there on a roast dinner day, it's best to book in advance, as it gets very busy.

There's also Petersfield Antiques Centre cafe, though I hesitate slightly to recommend it. Several cycling clubs go there, but the service tends to be slow; it's not too good for a groups that just wants to eat and get back on the road.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I love the Grasmere Tea Rooms. We've called in many a time whilst cycling in the Lake District and it's always just as wonderful as we remember it to be! Always busy, but if you can get a spot on the balcony outside you won't want to move for the rest of the afternoon :) Anyone else been there?

This place opened up 2 weeks ago http://www.justvintage.co.uk/ and our group visited today.

The lady who has opened the establishment has obviously gone out of her way to attract the cycling fraternity in the Ribble Valley. Very good service and the quality of her home made cakes was excellent. Real tea comes in loose-leaf tea infusers (is that the right word?) and the price is more than competitive with other local cafes .There is seating outside as well as within and it is open Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Saturday and Sunday (with full 7 day opening coming fairly soon). Several nearby cafes are closed on Tuesdays so this is a useful additional option for our group.

For those that know the Clitheroe area,it is on Twitter Lane about half way between the sanctum sanctorum of real ale breweries (Bashall Barn) and the Lower Buck at Waddington.

"yet only 3 miles from Clitheroe" it says on the web site intro.

Makes it sound like a throbbing metropolis :)
