Osama Bin swimming.

Postby reohn2 » 3 May 2011, 12:58pm

So he's held up in a fortified compound in the same city as the Pakistan Intelligence office and the main army training base.
He's suffering renal failure and needs dialisis.
The US go in without informing the Pakistan authorities.
Theres a US election around the corner.
The body is immediately taken and "buried" at sea.
Half of America has a an orgasm as a result.
And,and and...........

You forgot to mention that they kidnapped at least one other person from foreign soil
and tried to kidnap many others (including women and children) but the helicopter failed.

I dont suppose that the war is now "won" and we have peace at last.

As for discus, I would rather not.

It was a classic mission from what I've read so far. Pure "Call of Duty" covert ops stuff.

I reckon they approached silently on foot, silencers/knives for guards outside, climbed the external wall, planted C4 on the internal wall closest to the targets whereabouts (spotted on thermal imaging), then when it went boom they get the assualt rifles out after the flashbangs go off. They would have cleared all combatents within seconds with that sort of suprise entry.

The chopper would have coordinated its arrival to not be noisy early, and not be late for the noisy exit.

And it was all relayed to HQ via headcams!

Awesome stuff.

Your ideas of military operations appear to be more inspired by Hollywood than Banbury Lines.

A result! Obviously. A terrorist responsible for thousands of deaths now dead.

The Yanks did well but you'd think they could make reliable helicopters. Pleased they went in and made it personal rather than dropping a 2000 lb bomb.

I'm afraid it's too easy to be cynical, Obama just suffered his lowest ever poll rating and has announced his intention to stand for re-election in 2012. Recent events haven't done him any harm

So Bin Larden is finally dead. It's amazing what the Americans can do when the playstation network is down. :D

If it were me in charge, I'd keep quiet about it.

In the future if I were asked, I'd say, "Bin Laden who? Oh yes, I think we killed him yonks ago, I forget where or when, it was so unimportant."

All this publicity is doing is fanning more flames. The more it's talked about and publicised, the more his memory will be extended. I wish the press would shut up.

Not an option though. If the Americans hadn't released the information it would have come out anyway from Pakistan or Al Q and the Americans would have been accused of a cover up. They did exactly the right thing. Going up close and personal so they could identify him (not just dropping a bomb on the compound) then telling the world he was dead.

Agree, I suppose, but the press should shut up and stop glorifying it all.

Let's be honest, it makes a good read though not as sexy as Pippa's buttocks.
