On the point of lady stokers, please note the punctilious application of etiquette: the seating arrangement boy, girl, boy is meticulously followed.

If ever these were used to ride at speed in say a long time trial, heaven help whoever was handing up bottles. The start area would have been pretty crowded as well.

I'm sure you're right. A friend and I were considering the practicalities of a rational dress ride some time.
The idea involved a Mrs Beeton style picnic at some point, too!!

This is the sort of picnic they used to have in those halcyon days - was it what Charlie had in mind when he called the thread 'Don't be shy.'
The chap on the right is explaining to the lady how to replace a difficult tyre following a puncture.
The lady holding her chin is saying, "Marmaduke, I don't care if you have the biggest tandem in England. After all the fuss about an al fresco picnic, your lunch box is more than a disappointment; it's a complete and utter flop.!"

I am not going to dignify this with a comment, except they should rename this a the 'tuck shop' as it's seems full of schoolboys!
