If I may get this back on the straight and narrow, the dress of the ladies in the multiple tandem pic illustrates how patronising the men were even in those days. Whenever one of the female members did anything unusual for a woman in those far off days, the Captain would say, "Well m'dear, that is a feather in your cap!" with a knowing to the chaps.

I didn't intend to get everybody at daggers drawn. I do know that porn is porn, even when it is 'in exceedingly good taste' but I couldn't resist the picnic connection. In case anybody thinks I don't know my Monet from my Manet, here's the other Picnic:
The lady to the right of the group is saying "You keep promising to clean the chain."
( To pick-knickers everywhere: In the interests of equality I have added another caption to my earlier picnic pic.)

The shame with that pic is that it's stupid dress, not rational dress!
However, I spend today in the modern equivalent of irrational dress - shirt and skort courtesy of Minx/Terry, undercracker shorts courtesy of Altura, tights from M&S. I won't enlighten you about the underwear, because it's none of your business.
Nice pootle of 33 miles with good company and excellent weather - although the headwind early morning was causing tidal flow on a CANAL!!

Apologies Mrs T if I caused any offence,my comments were meant to be lighthearted.
BTW I have no problems with pics of naked men and comments about prunes,or the lack of sexual compitence of men for that matter, timing length of time lasted etc etc, time is a pertinant measurement for some.
I always find it funny how one can joke about almost anything but sex seems to be taboo for some.

Oracle,
Your thinking is flawed IMO.
If no one talked about religion then how would it proliferate?(or not)
if no one talked about politics how would one know that most politicians are liars,
and some of them honest and which were which?
If no one talked about sex how would we know how to stop proliferating, and which men were liars, which were honest and how to tell the difference.
Sometimes taste isn't always to ones, well, err, taste.
PS, strange how no one talks much about Love but its sung about a lot.
I really do like the broad brush approach where general statements are made that underline someone’s total approach to life: ‘most politicians are liars’ is such a statement that only serves to underlines my original comment. Also, never knew the best form of a lie detector was to get someone talking about sex, hope all those involved with interrogation techniques are aware of that one!
My point was that sex, religion and politics are areas where consensus is rare and are probably the 3 best know topics guaranteed to result in discord that serves no purpose, unless one wishes to deliberately antagonise, hence they are subjects that are often best avoided in polite conversation.
As for love, it is the same as hate, an emotional response that can often result in a subjective, rather than objective assessment of any situation, whether that it is sung or not.

Most politicians are liars because they need to be as the truth doesn't get votes,I can think of examples but won't bore you with what you already know.Perhaps one though, Mr Brown's increased road tax on 4x4 vehicles done under the pretence of lowering the CO2 output when everyone with any sense realises that its just another money gathering scheme.
Sorry, on that point i didn't explain myself very well.It was intended as a joke on size, which we all know doesn't really matter, but some men think does and therefore tell lies about it.
So is the CampagvShimano debate or which rims are best for whatever type of cycling, but that doesn't stop us agreeing to disagree, wouldn't you say its a mark of maturity to talk about a topic dispassionately? If not how will we ever learn anything if we aren't prepared to listen to the other persons point of view, keeping quiet achieves just that ,quietness, where points of view need to be heard and truth can be reached, otherwise the AIDS epidemic could have been stemed earlier before half of Africa was infected,or the teenage pregnancy rate may be lower if adults would grasp the nettle and talk about sex more to their children or perhaps that wouldn't be "polite".
As for wishing to "deliberately antagonise"that was certainly never my intention.
I disagree that Love is an emotional respone but a deliberate action bearing no relation to sex or hate.Love is all that is good in humanity and the action of Love is carried as normality if practiced continually in ones life IMO.
