LHC is mostly under France, but as I've not checked the nationality of the detectors you may be right

Nah, the LHC is about 75% Swiss and 25% French.

Also, there is no Higgs, so whatever paper you were reading was spouting sensationalist tosh.

It's far more interesting if mass is the result of something other than the Higgs mechanism (and in fact most of mass is due to strong interactions between quarks and gluons anyhow). The most satisfying answer would be to look again at the data and see that we took the wrong fork in the road 20 years back!

If it is anything like our house Mrs Higgs tidied up the Boson, if so it will never be found.
