Ageism in Travel Insurance

Post by johnvbell »

I have just received a notice from Citybond Suretravel inviting me to renew my annual travel insurance. I purchased this policy last year through CTC. I see that now I am 66, soon to turn 67 years old, if I renew I will be restricted in what I can do. If I were 65 or less I could take trips of 50 days; now I can only go for 35 days. Similarly if I were younger I could extend to 100 days;now this is not available.
I have the impression that Citybond do not want business from 'senior citizens'. Perhaps CTC ought to look for another provider with terms that are less ageist. I can certainly find other companies who do not discriminate. Marks and Spencers for instance.

Didn't you know that insurance was just gambling under another name? :)

Speak to Saga and Age Concern, both either run schemes or can tell you where you'll get reasonable rates.
