Out-walking the Grim Reaper

At this time of year, the BMJ publishes research with an interesting spin. Researchers have discovered that old people who walk fast live longer or, in their words:
This supports our hypothesis that faster speeds are protective against mortality because fast walkers can maintain a safe distance from the Grim Reaper.

Perhaps one of the few medical research reports to cite T Pratchett and JK Rowling as references.

The Grim Reaper came for me last night, and I beat him off with a vacuum cleaner. Talk about Dyson with death.

Oh dear, I am a slow walker and rarely do 3 mph on flat terrain.

In the Lakes if out for 6 -10 hours I average less than 2 mph

I better be careful
