Merry Christmas
Since were a week from Christmas I thought it'd be good to start a thread wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, and a safe drunken new year.
I've had lots of wonderful people on here take the time to give great replies to some of my interesting, and not so interesting threads. Ive also read some very funny threads mostly clickbait.... So I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed.

It's Bah, humbug in Yorkshire. Presumably we have more grumpy old men so the sheep don't get a look in.

Percussive maintainance, if it don't fit, hit it with the hammer.

Whatever holidays you may celebrate, enjoy them!
As today is solstice, those of us in the northern hemisphere can look forward to more light for cycling.

Now is it just me imagining things, or am I right in thinking that although the days might be getting longer now, it will continue to get darker earlier in the evenings for a short while (with it getting lighter in the mornings by a little more to make the over all difference), thus it's only getting lighter for longer if you you are a morning person rather than an evening person? OR have I just had too much rum in the mince pies again?
Re: Merry Christmas
Actually the opposite is true...
The sun may come up a minute or two later, but the days will now get longer, so if the sun comes up a minute later, it goes down a minute + a bit later.
Here are sunrise and sunset times for Manchester... http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/a ... =-11&day=1

Apparently something to do with the way Anna's Llama pulls the fiery chariot of the gods through the heavens.
That's what I said.

IME, at any sort of practical level it doesn't really matter because the differences caused by cloud cover and ts absence completely outweigh a couple of minutes either way of official daylight at this time of year.
