I love to hate certain members of these fora, they make me laugh and they make me cry, sometimes at the same time

Hope the mods don't mind this comment

I love to hate the local newspaper, it is or was the place to look for a job or a place to live, I am not seeking either but I still buy it
Must admit there were a couple of interesting things I would have missed otherwise

Surprising, not many papers have stopped printing, yet

One detects paradoxia, perhaps a bad case!

I suffer myself, although I don't hate haters but rather find myself intolerant of the intolerant. :-)

I love to hate my local food store, today I couldnae find the cheese I usually buy, they had moved it from the wall and put it in a chest freezer a few steps away, found it eventually before I went mad. Or asked a service person

I think the plan is to confuse and wear down the customers (conflict partners?) so they buy more expensive stuff, but I won this time

They call it remerchandising. It is in order to baffle those like me, who tread a well worn shortest path between the items we want, They hope that if we have to search and walk around more aisles we will succumb to impulse buys. Isn't it infuriating?

I think the muzak is intended to beat the customers down too, but maybe I am one of a small handful (on the Spectrum?) who dislike that

The cheap food stores are getting worse too, lidl near home has been refitted for lots of ca$h, they are not so simple anymore

There are a few businesses that I perceive more as partners than opponents: railway, bookshops, cycle shops maybe, cinema maybe

Moultons were supposed to be better, different new, but they are expensive and heavy

Love to hate Moultons? Love Moultons or Bromptons?

Hate is a horrible word.

The word "love" is bandied about too much .............. instead of "like" or "prefer".

Like or Dislike is a much better question than Love or Hate.

I dislike porridge and will avoid eating or smelling it. I don't hate it.

............... or have I said this before?

I wish they'd make their mind up.

There was a programme some years ago about the committee and they used the word "controversy" as an example.
They finally decreed that it would from henceforth be CON_TROV_ERCY.

Now?
They all seem to pronounce it CONTRO_VERCY.
I'm not saying one is correct and the other not. I just want consistency.

Why?
Because I like consistency and I dislike inconsistency.

If they can dedicate a whole TV programme - or was it radio? - it was a few years back - about the BBC pronunciation unit and how they have a committee to decide how things at the BBC should be pronounced ................. and then it all goes out the window!

What's the point of having a pronunciation unit?
No wonder we don't pay for a TV licence any more!
