But if you never watch TV, the licence system is the best for you, particularly as it means you aren't subsidising somebody else's viewing through taxation.
Who mentioned taxation?
There's many ways or raising revenue rather than charging £150 pa

New letter today! :D

Entitled, "Will you be in on the 10th October?"

Para 1:
As there is no record of a TV licence at the above address, you should expect a visit from an Enforcement Officer.

Para 2:
It may be on 10th October, or on another day.

Mine is due to visit on October 3rd.
I am fairly sure that there is absolutely no connection at all between these letters and any potential visits.

If an investigator arrives at either of our houses on those days it will be a coincidence.
As it is they have never yet delivered on their promise to send somebody to visit.
Dont bother having the kettle on ready for them.

If they do turn up, do please offer them a drink and ask them if they feel bad about having a job harassing people who simply don't watch TV or who are simply unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of TVL's incompetence and illegal inability to keep the data it holds up to date?

Scrap the TVL and fund the BBC some other way.

Doesn't mean we'd watch anything though or even be tempted to.

NO scrap the BBC!

But they get you other ways.
Two neighbour's have two grey bins, apparently two adults and two children mean free extra bin.
I can go (two of us) three months before our bin needs emptying, they get child allowances and probably credits too, but pay same council tax.

Received a red letter today.
The redness was the envelope, not the letter.
It says:

As you have not responded to our letters yet, you have left us no alternative but to proceed with the final stages of our investigation.
An Officer has been scheduled to visit ....................
The Officer may visit your property any day of the week, morning or evening.

I'm scared stiff. :D
Scared stiff that the Officer has a capital O.

They wrote again at the end of November. That was the 11th one ............... and all have been different.
They seem to arrive monthly, so I'm on tenderhooks waiting for the December one. Hopefully it'll contain a Christmas card. :D

The December one will be Number 12. I wonder how many different ones they have?

It's a computer program churning them out.
Untouched by human hand. Even the signatures are printed. I find it insulting.

I would like a real person to write a real letter - and sign it too. You never know, I may even reply!

I was thinking of the people who invent them or the agents who knock on your door

Hi there, "It's a computer programme churning them out"!
Does that apply to the e:mails we keep getting? The spam giveaway is when my wife gets one it can't be official, as I am the licence person.
Also I always pay by Direct Debit, over numerous payments, the amount they are asking for doesn't match my payment schedule!
Can't wait until I reach 75, a freebie I look forward to? Another thing for the "remainers" to gripe about!

The Beeb is manoeuvring to scrap it so you may be the one with something to gripe about.
