Yes, that was on the news this afternoon.
Major issue for the folks within the footprint of that mast.

Eighth day of no TV today after the Bilsdale transmitter fire. The estimate seems to be another 10 days. Is it genuinely possible to get a refund on 18 days of no live BBC?

I doubt you can get a refund.
You can still watch iPlayer, so you have to pay.

TVL is required for Live TV and/or iPlayer.

Doesn't even have to be a terrestrial broadcast either. cable and sat are also TVL for live...
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.
There are two kinds of people in this world: those can extrapolate from incomplete data.

I think the licence only authorises the installation of the receiving equipment. In the days when telly reception was less dependable than it usually is now, the waffle on or accompanying the licence used to say it didn't guarantee reception. In any case, I presume those affected by this service breakdown can receive other channels.

Another day, another fire lighter:

Local Investigation Active?

No14 Feb 2019
Same as No17 May 2019
Same as No24 Nov 2019
Not firelighters, as I have kept them all in a folder.

Although we paid for a TVL, I personally have not watched a thing.
We pay for Netflix, but I can't remember when I watched anything on it.

Watched YouTube movies a few times, but we don't pay for those.

Makes me laugh though. First it’s an investigation then further down the letter it’s an enforcement.

Made me laugh too.
The whole idea is an empty threat to frighten.

The letters stopped in November of 2020.
Nothing December, January 2011 and February and March.

By April or was it May? we bought a smart(?) TV and put an aerial up then paid our (her) £150 odd.
Waste of money in my opinion .................. but that's another story.

Re The Blue Lion in East Witton, mentioned in that report, well-worth a visit if you like places without music. (Currently a no-no if you like the telly.)

I was feeling left out MONTHS before we bought a TVL.
Letters for years, and then they stopped.

This is the sorry tale of their empty pointless threats.
