Greetings from Doha, Qatar.
I tour Australia on a custom-built diamond frame touring bicycle, and own a 2012 6-speed Brommie. That said, I just bike about Doha because my big tourer is in OZ awaiting me for my next trip in June.
However, I have read Heinz Stücke's book on touring with a Brommie. He toured about 196 countries in 50 years. The last 10+ years on a Brommie that the company gave him. So set the nay-sayers aside. It can be done....
