Stroppy kids five day route Europe

Post by MrsHJ »

Hi all, not done much cycling since we were in the Netherlands last summer but the kids have cracked and agreed to a cycling holiday. I'm thinking somewhere for 5 days or so. I lean towards France for the May half term with a ferry plus car (or flying) approach and leave the car at a campsite or similar then get the train back.

Suggestions on locations. Maybe south west France? The kids moan a lot and don't want to spend all day on the bike. I noticed Agen to Toulouse looked nice short distances (no idea how I get the kids to increase distance but let's get them enjoying being on a bIke again before I get some improvement there!

Sorry-kids are 11, nearly 12 (on the spectrum) and super sophisticated and super fit 14. Common interests-good internet and decent weather. The sophisticated one responds well to good food, the younger one responds well to pizza.

They like 4 star hotels with swimming pools and streaming internet. I like camping.

I guess the important question you need to ask yourself is, 'Which child is my favourite?'

Leave the children with a grandparent.
Cycle through Europe.
Relax.
Drink cheap wine from cartons.
Cuddle.
Have good sex.
In a tent.

Return home recharged, to deal with the stroppy kids ....

Whenever they asked me, I always said 'whichever one's nearest'. Though sometimes the truth was, whichever one's in a different room.

With kids? Go with a tour company and they will provide everything you need. I say that not to lessen the tour experience, but with 3 kids that age, if anything falls through (hotel, weather, breakdown) 3 miserable kids is worse than getting waterboarded
I wish it were as easy as riding a bike
