Hi everyone,
Cycling down to Portsmouth from Tooting, London in 2 weeks. Does anyone have any recommended routes?
We are planning on doing this route in a day on roadbikes and looking for a few pretty places to stop along the day (a nice pub lunch!).
Are there some places you would avoid? I've seen a few comments on the A272 and the A286 (narrow and poor sight lines) however it's all a little outdated.
Any help is appreciated!

Re: London to Portsmouth
I enjoy working out routes
https://gb.mapometer.com/cycling/route_4609084
This route is 89 miles from Tooting Broadway Underground Station to Old Portsmouth.
I have tried to
Quite way out of London
Keep to the lanes as much as possible
SO at major roads if possible if not right left
Avoid Haselmere
I think I have ridden most of route but over the last 40 years but not all in one go.
Pubs between 40 and 60 miles there are pleanty of pubs

It is not flat"
I hope this helps.
