The TGV Lyria services between Paris and Switzerland have for a while been key routes for those of us who want to travel with a fully-assembled bicycle. Sadly, no more. Since the December timetable change this year, when TGV Lyria went over to a three-class system, they only take bikes in bags, max 120 x 90.
See, for example http://mdb-idf.org/suppression-des-places-velos-dans-les-tgv-lyria/.

Re: More bad news about European trains
Sort of good news from Germany, some of the ICEs take a few bikes now
But on many routes where ICEs do not take them the ICs are not so attractive or are much slower
The DB has engaged a motor *sport* person to do publicity, how perverse

Thanks Cyril Haearn, that is indeed good news. In recent times cyclists in Germany have only had the option to use slower regional trains, but the new ICE 4 rolling stock has accommodation for eight bicycles as standard. Apparently five of these have now entered service on the lines between Hamburg and Munich and between Hamburg and Stuttgart, and DB will introduce more than 100 of them across their network by 2023.
