Nova Scotia mini tour

Post by nomm »

Hi, my partner and I are planning a week+ mini tour while on the East coast on Canada visiting family in June.

We are a bit torn between the North (Cabot Trail) or the Southern Shore - The North seems a bit more cycle focused and hilly, while the southern looks a bit less hilly but with more opportunities for sea canoeing.

Anyone got any experiences/advice of either?

My wife and I did both these trips on different occasions although quite a few years ago(late 90s and early 2000s). We preferred the Cabot trail as it was much quieter from a traffic perspective and less tourist traffic. The north was certainly more hilly but achievable with We camped on the Cabot trail and B&Bd for the southern shore route. Both trips were 3 weeks in early September and the weather was mainly very hot. May be worth checking the black fly season if you're camping. We were lucky and missed it. We never did any canoeing so can't help there.
