Aldi Selling Down Sleeping Bags Next Week £40

Post by simonhill »

Just in case anyone is interested.

I put this in the general Touring forum as probably of interest to others than those who browse the camping sub forum.

Dunno my 40 quid sleeping bag seems fine. Made in Poland with 700+ fill of Polish goose down, baffled construction etc. Meant to be 3 season but ok all year round in much of the UK

I guess quality of such an item is not just the fill but also of the outer, the (important) baffling, of the thread and the stitching.

Thieves, check Alibaba, probably under £20 from the actual supplier.
Tho' you can make a better bag using Poundland glassfibre insulation and
space blankets and duct tape. People waste so much money on fancy kit at Aldi.

It's available online from today, or in the shops this thursday.

Can anyone tell from the spec's whether it's likely to be reasonable quality?

It's in a fishing event sale by the way.

Thanks for the Aldi alert. Ordered one for the Mrs. Will be used in our Camper so 2 seasons is ok.

Only 800 grammes!

Reuse, recycle, thus do your bit to save the planet.... Get stuff at auctions, Dump, Charity Shops, Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, Car Boots. Choose an Old House, and a Banger ..... And cycle as often as you can......

Sometimes it 800g and others it's 900, but who's going to quibble over 100g?
I'd be more concerned that it's rated as 2 season. Sometimes British summers can test the limits of three season equipment.
I no longer buy anything other than food from Aldi, nothing I tried proved to be long term value, fine if you're only intending limited use, but for anything else it is IMO worth spending more.

Not in a position to grab one at the mo.

Must say am put off by the apparent 2 season rating.

May check out later, maybe remaindered as I have a branch near me that does lots of remaindered stuff.

edit: am not criticising Aldi as per post above. I have some excellent cycling stuff from Aldi. Often great for touring as less delicate.
