Does anyone know of panniers that have all metal mountings? I know the Arkel Dolphin has all metal mountings, as shown here:

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
panniers with all metal mountings?
Re: panniers with all metal mountings?
You can buy the Arkel mounts and back fit them to most panniers.

I did not know you could buy these separately. Thanks for the info.
Re: panniers with all metal mountings?
I use a set of Crosso Expert, cordura panniers with big bullet proof metal fittings, fully waterproof roll top closures like Ortleib but a lot cheaper.
Re: panniers with all metal mountings?
I have an old pair of 'Summit Gear' panniers with metal fittings. They were made in Katoomba NSW Australia .. but they no longer make anything similar. the upper hooks are sheet metal shaped into the form of a tube where it bears onto the rack.
The metal fittings ware the aluminum rack to the point where I am considering replacing the rack from the years of service. The panniers themselves have lost their waterproofing and have some ware holes in their material, the metal fittings are still fine. If you are going to have metal pannier fittings .. I would put something between the rack and pannier fittings that will reduce the ware to both components, this might be sacrificial so would need to be easily replaced.

I like the robustness of metal, and it's easy to repair on the road. It's even easy to replace entirely, using some sheet metal or other bodge. I really can't think of any disadvantage. People complain about metal on metal and wearing the rack / hooks. But that's easy to solve with a bit of tape or some rubber from an old inner tube on the contact points.
Yes designs like Ortlieb are easy to lift on and off, but that's not what I want. For security reasons I will use some sort of anti tamper clamp to prevent this. This would work perfect over the top of the hooks. Yes it's a pain when dealing with flats, but I have had too many things stolen over the years. If it takes me an extra 5 minutes to repair a flat, that's no big deal.
So I am seriously considering the cross stuff. Seen a lot of Polish riders use this on world tours. Not heard many complaints.
