Caledonia Way

Hi everyone,

I couldn't find much on this topic in any of the archives so I thought I would ask ....

We were thinking of cycling from Glasgow to Inverness in September and were thinking of the west coast option of the Caledonia Way...

Does anyone have any opinions of bike / tyre options ? Do we need full on mountain bikes with us or can we get away with a slightly bigger tyre ?

Recommendations of good places to stop / eat / camp would also be appreciated.
