Just been shown this by my dad. I know what I’m doing next time I go to see my family on Lake Garda. Looks incredible: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/lake-gardas-new-floating-cycle-path/

If I was going to be churlish I would say, but it’s not in Italy...but won’t either

I have driven the western road round the lake so many times and have always thought that without the traffic it would be an amazing bike ride. So this is going to be brilliant. Would love to see the route through the villages and towns as well though.

The Garda Lake Cyclepath (the short stretch of Limone sul Garda)
Just a few days ago I happened to read the interview to a “certain Minister in charge” who on July the 14th, the day of its inauguration, pronounced these beautiful words: "Overlooking the lake, the most beautiful cyclepath in the world is now a reality. Beautiful by day, wonderful at night, the cyclepath of Limone del Garda is now freely available 24 hours a day, under the sun during the day or at night"
… well, so the past night I decided to go by car first and then by bicycle to see this beautiful cyclepath … but what a great disappointment !!
Two-three kms overall, parallel to the main road, definitely nice no doubt but too narrow IMO, perhaps enjoyable till six/seven in the morning ... then a little bit later people jogging, walking, stopping to take pictures at any spot, with children, with dogs, etc. etc. ... and so at around eight the only chance is to go back on main road again. That's it!!

Wow, what a brilliant idea. Thanks for posting that Honesty.
@ConRad, the article Honesty linked says it will be 87 miles long when completed.
A few years ago, some inspired folks in NYC turned a disused elevated railway downtown in the old meat-packing district into a walkway with landscaping by Piet Oudolf. The Highline has been an incredible success, too successful maybe as it's often mobbed with tourists.

Many thanks for the update Conrad.

Personally I'm always wary of the Italian word bello/bella :)

Especially from an Italian politician.

It does look rather wonderful though I fully take on board your points.

I take it it is open to folk other than cyclists.

There did seem to be sharpish bends which could maybe cause issues even just for cyclist/cyclist encounters - blind bends on cycle paths can be a serious issue.

One as you say for slowly slowly in the quiet hours I think.
