Ride out there, to get at the bridge from the Northeast. Locked gate.
Turned round and tried from the Northwest. Private.
Already tried it from the south. Farm gate.

I think I'll be ringing the number on the private sign and speaking to them nicely, but it could be that the people at Ellacott Barton have no access to the bridge as they are a good half a mile from it. No harm in asking eh?

I reckon that it's the farm who have access. Maybe the A30 dual carriageway was built and it bisected the farmland, so they put a bridge there so the farmer could access his land.

Fall-back option, is to ride down the A30 and stop at the bridge and hike me and the bike up the bank to get on the bridge.

Looks to me that the farm has access. The lorry is heading south towards the farm.

That's the name on the lorry, and they are the people at Ellacott Barton.

I'm going to drop them a nice friendly email.

That lorry isn't heading anywhere. It was parked on that bridge for years. In fact I think it's still there (or a similar one is). It's just an advert and I always wonder how it's allowed.

I crossed this bridge on Route 66. Had to lug my paniers and bike over the barriers at both ends but it saved 20 miles of freeway shoulder.

Note the skidmarks. Looks like someone had a close call.

I must check this fact out, but it is a private road.
I've driven under that bridge in the past, and I can't remember seeing it.

Looking on Google Satellite View, it's there!

Just come back from Bodmin.
I drove there with Moulton in the back and parked in the long stay carpark, then set off to get Bridges 41 to 52.
All done successfully with 39miles of cycling. :D

My brain is still worrying about Bridge 6 and Bridge 30.

In the US there is a web site for the MickFs of the country, Bridgehunter.com. Is there a similar one in the UK?

I doubt it very much indeed.
I don't think there's an iconic route across the country like there is in USA, but I'm doing my best. :D

LEJOG and JOGLE are iconic, but the route(s) are variable, and much less of a distance.

Actually Mick this website is for bridges anywhere in the country not just on 66. Bridge spotting must be like train spotting to some and they are interesting from an engineering POV.

Out early (by car) to Temple on Bodmin Moor and collected bridges 37, 38, 39 and 40.

37 was a bit of a problem.
It's a private farm track to connect up the minor road to the field on the opposite side of the A30 dual carriageway.
There were a few cows on the bridge, that wandered off as I approached. The gates weren't locked, just sliding bolts.

No-one around except me and the cows, so I opened one of the gates, wheeled Mercian in and bolted the gate behind me, then rode over the bridge and back again! :D

The rest were easy though the hills near Blisland/Waterloo were a bit steep.

I wonder if that's any better?
I'm planning on telephoning Eversfield Organics though not got round to it yet. I was going to try an email, but I could come across as someone who wants to get there abandoned lorry off the bridge, or a frustrated off-roader who want access.

As for the other route via Way Barton, I'll do some research but it doesn't look good.

Off out early tomorrow morning to get 59 to 77.
Driving down to Camborne and parking up. I've split the ride into two sections, first down to Penzance and back, then up to Blackwater and back. 30miles first and 20mile second. Getting back to the car between rides maybe have a sit down and a snack.

Done them! 59 to 79.
One bridge is actually a double bridge, a sort of roundabout above the A30, so that counted as two. I went right round to do them both. :D

Roundabout.jpg

Later, to the east of Hayle, there's a foot bridge I didn't know about over the A30 to get to some retail outlets. Steps both sides, so I carried Moulton up rode across and back again, then carried the bike back down. So that was another bridge to count.
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.19567 ... bfov%3D100

Total is now 79, and I've done 71 of them so far.

Yet to do the six bridges 53 to 58. I'll drive down to Truro and park up, and Mrs Mick F can do some retail therapy whilst I ride them.
Still have the troublesome 30 and the difficult 6 of course, but they can wait for the time being.
