Aviemore Youth Hostel

Post by Toffee »

Anyone stayed at Aviemore Youth Hostel with their bike.

Going to be there in a couple of months with a couple of bike and wondered what the cycle storage is like.

How secure is it?

It's a shed, pretty much like any shed.

Thanks for that.

Can you secure your bike in it?

Aviemore isn't exactly a hot bed of crime. You probably don't need to bother locking your bikes at all but if you are worried, just chain the two bikes together opposite ways round.

And chain the whole to an immovable object
Who knows, maybe heating pipes run through the shed

Gas pipes could be better.

Place I used to work at had all sorts of pipes.. plumbers got very careful.
Hydrogen, liquid nitrogen and return gaseous nitrogen pipes ran all over the place.
Oh .. and fires were extremely carefull .. once they learn we had rare earths that would ignite when exposed to air..
For some reason the liked to have a staff member in close proximity at all times.

Thanks everyone for your contribution.

I am just trying to not take a heavy D lock with us.

I have now found an Airbnb in Aviemore that we are going to stay at with a garage to keep the bikes in. Oh and cheaper too.

Fraoch Lodge in Boat of Garten is a nice alternative not too far away. Quieter than Aviemore, which may be a Bug or a Feature depending on your outlook.
