Le Touquet cycling

I'm thinking of going to Le Touquet for a day trip. I think the plane will be landing at Le Touquet airport. I only want to go to the town centre really, possibly a bit of the area around it, depending on how things turn out. It won't be a cycling trip, but I do cycle a bit and have found out that the airport rents out bicycles. Since the airport doesn't appear to be that far from town, I thought I'd get myself to and from town by bike, rather than taxi that seems to be the only other option. Does anyone have any experience of that trip and is there an online map that I could print out?

Yep - cycled at le Touquet lots of times - the airport is less than a mile from the town centre - and all very well signed. The whole area around the town is quiet roads, mostly with cyclepaths alongside - with lots of "gingerbread houses" - and it's pan-flat apart from a small rise at the very southern end of the seafront.

The main street with bars, restaurants, shops etc is one block back from the seafront.

If you have time ride north along the coast road (go over the river bridge just to the east of the airport) to Etaples and then a couple of miles to the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery - one of, if not, the biggest in France, it's very moving.

Thanks. Do you happen to know if the airport bikes are in good condition and if they provide locks, by any chance? I'll have to see when the flight back is to see how long I have to go further afield.

Not a clue I'm afraid - I've cycled past the airport quite a few times but not been in .... although I did fly in there once from Southend Airport - but that was in 1958 in a 4-seater Auster with my father at the controls!

Hi,
I have flown into there a few times.
I have not hired the bikes but the hire centre looked ok and the bikes looked in good condition but not sure about locks though.
Also it is a great place to cycle to see everything.
