Cyclists accommodation Italy

Post by PeterT »

We are a group of 5 cyclists (male and female) that would like a one week holiday cycling in Italy next April, May or June 2019. Can anyone recommend suitable bed breakfast and evening meal accommodation that specializes for cyclists. We don't want to go 'organised' but just a base suitable for road cycling locally, both hills and the flat. No preference of where in Italy but need to be not far from an airport serviced by UK flights.
Thanks in advance of replies.

I've not used them myself but there are a lot of hotels on the NE coast of Italy the specialise in catering for cyclists. Sorry I can't post links at the moment but Google cycle hotels Riccione Italy

Taking bikes with your or hiring out there?

If you want accommodation my aunty rents out holiday flats is a very lovely area of Italy off the beaten tourist path, but the countryside and roads are just incredible for cycling. (My current day dream is to jack in the job and go run a cycle touring company from there. Blooming children, jobs, responsibilities... ) If you're interested they are Near Ovada in Piemonte and if you watched the Giro Rosa you would have seen their village as the race went through it. Drop me a PM if you want the web address.

Nearest airport is Genova, which you can fly to through Easyjet.

Obvious downside is it's not cycling specific so you'd have to take your own bikes...

Further to my post above, I had a vague memory you could hire bikes in Nove Ligure (home of the Fausto Coppi cycling museum - Museo dei Campionissimi - worth a visit!) so have done a quick dig. You can hire bikes here - https://www.dioniso-cicli.com I have no information on quality.
