Dunkirk to Budapest

Post by JoeMoran23 »

Hi There,

I am relatively new to cycle touring and i'm about to set out on a big trip from Topsham (UK) to Turkey. I have planned a route from Dunkirk to Budapest, could anyone with any experience advise me on my planned route.

Your first section runs from Dunkirk town not port. I suggest https://cycle.travel/map/journey/55610 as a better route to Ostend. Detour into town from the station if you want to see the Dynamo memorial but be aware that cycleways are still under heavy construction.

The bits across Belgium look fine to me, although sometimes it seems to avoid interesting towns like Damme which wouldn't slow you much, but goes through big cities like Antwerp where progress will be slower so be sure you want to see them (I still would).

After that, I think you're into parts I don't know.

As you’ve mapped it EV6 for the second half of your route looks like a practical plan. When are you doing it?

I was very pleased with my cycle travel route in France. Very annoyed by my Garmin though which I think is due to be replaced.
