Po?
Po?
Next summer I'm expecting to find myself in north-east Italy, with a bicycle and about ten days to kill, starting near Bressanone. If I'm feeling mountainous, I'll plan to head off into the Dolomites, but plan B would be to jump on a train down to Verona, and go and explore the Po delta. I'm already familiar with the fabulous Italy Cycling Guide – any other advice or suggestions will be much appreciated.
Re: Po?
The Po delta is certainly interesting, particularly so if you like bird watching. However personally, I would not make it a priority destination.
I would suggest riding Bolzano, Verona, Vicenza, Padua and finally Venice. It's mostly bike friendly and if you are interested in art, history and culture there is no better route....
Summer heat in Italy can make hill climbing extra hard.
