Hebridean Way on a Mountain Bike

Post by Patfig »

Dear All,

New poster here. I am hoping to do the Hebridean Way with my son this year. I hope to be OK as a fat lad on an e bike but my teenage son is determined that he can do this in 4/5 days on his Canondale mountain bike. Would anyone be able to offer any thoughts / tips especially if you have done this bike ride before

Cheers PF

I have never done it but this fella did it in 24 hours (actually just 12 hrs in the saddle on a road bike) so a MTB should be able to make it in 4/5 days.

I think he holds a couple of other distance records and is reasonably fit so bear this in mind!

If his bike has aggressive tyres maybe consider shoeing it with some road friendly tyres. As long as it fits him and he’s comfy on it. I assume dad is going to carry all or the bulk of the luggage?

What are you doing for accommodation?
Charging an ebike could be an issue.
A bike does more miles to the banana than a Porsche.
