A7 South of Edinburgh

Post by mnichols »

Does anyone know what the A7 South of Edinburgh is like for cycling?

My route runs parallel as far as Hawick, but it looks fine on Google Maps - might be easier to just be on it?

Ultimately I'm heading to Stannersburn that day

Is the A68 better/worse?

A7 and A68 are key routes into the borders so are busy with more lorries than is ideal.

If you have time there are much nicer twisty routes through the borders. I only ever do a couple of miles on the A7 and A68 to link up the twisties.

If you use Google maps to route Edinburgh to Stannesburn by bicycle the route it offers is the one to consider.

88 miles but nice roads for cycling.
