Wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for the above? We will need to overnight before our flight back to the US.
Thanks!

St Giles Hotel at Feltham (they call it London Heathrow) - far enough from the airport to be reasonably priced, but near enough to get there pretty quickly. Prices are fair in the week, cheaper on Sunday nights.

Can't say I've flied from Heathrow often (Twice :?: ), but could it be worth considering stopping off in any of the Central London hotels?

Think I stopped off in a youth hostel on my last (NB. Second) flight

Yotel inside the terminal building at T4 if you have an early flight. I use it a couple of times a year. It's easy to get a terminal transfer train if you depart from T2,3 or 5.
It's like a railway sleeping compartment - fine to roll into and sleep, but not for an evening's relaxation.

Our family use Premier Inn, Heathrow for a night before a flight as depending on your dates they are often reasonably priced and connected by a transfer bus. The premier Inns at Gatwick are worth a look if anyone is leaving from there as both hotels are a short walk to the North terminal. I do not work for Premier and other hotels are available, just commenting as this is who we use.

I am assuming you will be with boxed bike and the rest of your touring luggage.

Trying to negotiate that lot for an early morning flight from an out of airport hotel may be problematic. You would need to ensure that suitable transport is available and get a guarantee that it will have enough space. Personally I wouldn't risk it.

If you want an out of airport hotel, I would advise dropping at least your bikes in left luggage at the airport the day before. Check first, but they should take them for about £10 each. They may want to Xray or look inside.

You're flying Icelandair, so its Terminal 2 - that's fairly important as some terminals are a long awkward way apart.

I don't know about T2, but I flew out of terminal 4 in the summer and stayed in the Premier Inn. It was a covered walkway from hotel to terminal. No problem with trolley and bike. Not particularly suitable for T2, but you can search the hotel booking sites for similar. My Premier Inn was about £70 for a double, which may be more than an out of airport place, but you can take all luggage with you and save on storage charges.

Just had a quick look on booking.com and most (so called) T2 hotels are a bit distant (maybe a mile or more). The reviews on the Hilton say it is a 5 minute walk, so could be worth a look.

Edit just reread post 2 above. If its easy swap terminals on the train with bike then any of the T4 walkway linked hotels would be worth considering. You would be doing a lot of humping as trolleys not allowed on station platforms.

Simon, thanks for your reply!
Yes the idea of leaving the bike boxes at Left Luggage occurred to me yesterday! I really don't want to haul them to a hotel.
I ac Messengered Heathrow yesterday and inquired about it. I w say they are very efficient with their response!

I use the Premier Inn at, I think terminal 4. The trains (mention of a bus in this thread, but no need I feel) run early and late and you can connect to all the other terminals and they are free. Very good value
