Journal of my ride from Bolzano to Vienna

Postby raybo » 28 Jan 2020, 10:50pm

In August, 2019, I rode from Bolzano,Italy through the Dolomites to Cortina and then to and over the Grossglockner Pass to Vienna in 16 days. It wasn't the lowest traffic time of the year and there was lots of climbing and mountain views, some obscured by clouds.

Riding through the Dolomites checked off a box on my list. The Grossglockner Pass was beyond my abilities, but through determination (and walking) I managed to get over it. It was a good, though short, tour through the Alps.

I have just completed my detailed journal of the ride, if you'd like to see lots of photos and get some more details.

I'll try to read that sometime.

(It does seem that almost everyone else rides *south* through the alps region e.g. Munich-Venice rides. )

I enjoyed this -- thanks. (And in spite of everything, you've made me think I should add the Grossglockner to my list of passes to ride...!)
