Knott End to Fleetwood, and referencing Mr W-P's (BB) book I guess?

Already proposed - no.Humber ferry?
That was closed when the bridge was built.
Yes, it was the Humber Ferry
Entertainer, juvenile, curmudgeon, PoB, 30120
Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

Well done Bonefishblues!
It is indeed the Fleetwood to Knott End ferry, crossing the mouth of the River Wyre.
On a clear day, someone standing at the Fleetwood landing can see the Pennines including the Forest of Bowland, in reality the location of the Wyre's headwaters and in fiction the setting for the book 'The Forest of Bowland Light Railway' by 'BB'

I hadn't realised until I researched your clue in earnest that BB was a childrens author as well as the fishing & naturalist books I knew him for.
Carry on with this piece of injudicious parking, perhaps?

More challenging than it first appears. That looks like railway infrastructure in the background. An operating railway or a closed one?
The wooded hills suggest a creak rather than an exposed beach. Plainly accessible to cars, and the unofficial sign implies that motor tourists have often had their vehicles trapped there, so probably a place likely to attract the same. It all suggests the West Country but I have not found any sites along tidal creaks with active railway lines which match the scene. If it is a disused railway then the number of possibilities becomes much larger.

Active, intermittent service
Take care which railway map you consult though...

More clues? West is best, I agree.

It's the same the whole world over

It's the rich what gets the pleasure
Isn't it a blooming shame?

The river Dart in south Devon is tidal as far as Totnes, so possibly somewhere along that where the Paignton & Dartmouth railway line runs? Though I can't spot any obvious locality on the OS map. North of Totnes the river is followed by the South Devon heritage line, where there could be possible locations, but I'm pretty sure high tides don't reach that far.

Ok, further west might make it the Bodmin to Wadebridge line along the river Camel. Don't know if the river is tidal along that bit, or where it would be though.

Re: Lockdown non-touring quiz
You're quite close geographically, albeit oceans apart. I drove from this location through Bodmin and on to Wadebridge in about 40 minutes.
I hope it's not too bitter a pill to swallow when you find out where it is

Is it Bodmin Pill, on the River Fowey (SX123537) in which case the railway is the branch to the china clay quay just upriver from Fowey itself and the woods are on the other side of the river?

Neither can I. I considered Noss Point but it did not fit.

You are right. Certainly not upstream of Totnes.
