If I had access to the CUK Oxfordshire e mail list, I might trace the Oxfordshire jersey (pink/purple) in the photo and get the answer... Can't quite ID the rider.

Similarly, I was puzzling about the East Riding jersey on the left and wondering about Beverley, but that's not a city. I used to live in York but the street scene doesn't jump out.

We haven't been told it's not York yet though.....

It is York. Thats the cross keys pub in Deangate junction Goodramgate. The street the pic was taken is Deangate..

Yes , I noticed that when zoomed in and that's how I identified it. Google search Cross Keys pub in Medieval City -hey presto !

Ah - well done! I had found Cross Keys in York, but was staring at it from the wrong direction in Goodramgate in StreetView and scratching my head. So, close, but no cigar!
