Perhaps somewhere between Teignmouth and Beer, in Devon. If it was a commericial boat trip in something bigger than a dingy, perhaps from either Dawlish, Exmouth or Sidmouth (due to the restricted number of jetties and piers in the area).
That'll do, I think. It's between Torquay and Teignmouth. Devonian sandstone. Which occurs in a small area of Pembrokeshire, too.

Well done! It is indeed on the Ile de Batz. The island is small but it's attractions making it worth the touring cyclist's while to make the ferry crossing are a very nice youth hostel and that the island is car-free. The first image was taken from the top of the island's old lighthouse and is indeed looking over to Roscoff.
