What about the windmills of Kinderdijk, there are water busses that go to and from Rotterdam if you are short of time.
The town of Brielle is nice.
There is one of the world's biggest moveable structures not far away, there is a visitor centre on the north bank.

The dunes to the North of Hook of Holland are also a possibility.

In May 2018 we enjoyed a 7 day tour on Bromptons from Zeebrugge to Europort. We got the overnight ferry from Hull (and overnight back from Europort to Hull) and our first day from Zeebrugge was to Gent. Day 2 was train to Eeklo (Belgium) then cycle to Middleburg in the Netherlands via the cycle & pedestrian ferry. Day 3 was an almost circular ride to a farm only 4 miles north but we went all the way around the lovely coastal route to make it 30 miles. Day 5 we cycled to Zierikzee a lovely small town. Day 6 was another cycle ferry then a windy but very route along the coast to Ouddorp and the following day we finished off with another lovely route of 31 miles to Europort.

Zeeland is a really nice contrasting part of the Netherlands to the hustle and bustle of the central belt and is relatively sparsely populated. There are some really picturesque villages and small towns

I was going to do Europort to zeebruge this year but i accepted a credit note for next year
Just as well as my return jurney from zeebruge was cancled at short notice.

It would now appear that P & 0 will not be running the Zeebruge to Hull ferry in 2021 which means I can not
Do my intended trip wonder if I could get some or all of my money back ?

Discussion of the discontinuation:

And ask for your money back now. Did you pay by UK credit card?

Good luck.
If you're planning to go again, I recommend Stena Line Harwich to Hook of Holland. Might be less convenient for you though?

Thanks for the advice so far. It has helped me plan my day.

My mind has taken me to a post Covid world where travel is possible

My day route takes me from Europort to Kinderdijk and back for kibberling and bittenballs in the famous 'Markthall'. Of course I will stop at Jumbo to get a pro-cycling themed bag for life.

So my final question (honest) has anyone taken a bike on the waterbus - is there a limitless space for bikes - likely be 10 of us. Can you pay as you turn up and how frequent are they

I would need two one from Slikerveer to Kindedijk and the Kinderdijk to Krimpen aan de Lek

That komoot link requires a login.

Kinderdijk to Krimpen aan de Lek was not a waterbus when I used it. It was a ferry capable of carrying lorries. Bike space is plentiful and if it is very busy, it is not long until the next one. https://veerdienstkinderdijk.nl/nl/

I don't know the other one but usually bikes get stacked up to fit lots on. I have only once had to wait for the next ferry in 4 tours to Benelux, during a harbour festival!

There were 10 of us that caught the water is back from Kinderdik to Rotterdam and there was plenty of space for all of our bikes. Not sure if this is the same ferry as you are planning to catch though.

I have a ferry booked, Newcastle to Ijmuiden with a rough plan to take the train down to Frankfurt then cycle back to ijmuiden I have 9 full days. I have 2 routes partly planned if anyone can offer some insight as to which to choose or indeed is there an entirely different route i should consider?
Only consideration is Amsterdam where i will be stopping on the way back to the ferry to stay with friends for a night or two.
below is hopefully the links to the 2 planned routes, Thanks' (average mileage 50mile a day)

I followed the Rhine Route down to Switzerland (Eurovelo 15) https://en.eurovelo.com/ev15

Its flat, a very well known route with excellent signage etc . You're kind of avoiding parts of it and I'm not sure if that's intentional but no issues. It gets a little built up and Industrial between Duisburg and Dusseldorf but fascinating all the same, safe, good cycling and plenty of accommodation. Koln is lovely as is Bonn and the stretch from Bonn down to Mainz.

We enjoyed EV15 (apart from the heatwave). Some traffic free, some not. Mostly camping.
