Pity the info (your linked page and others I've checked) don't say whether or not the app requires to be online whenever your Veccine Status is checked (or does it retain the vaccination record on the device). Rather relevant when arriving in a foreign country at immigration with no SIM for that country (yet) and do immigration areas provide free Wi-Fi (many Customs areas say "no smartphones). Unless I've missed it.

It's a general thing I've noticed amongst city dwellers - the forget the possibility that you might ever spend time away from internet coverage (through 4/5G or Wi-Fi) whereas rural people tend to think bout being offline a bit more.

I assumed that it works offline. But I haven't seen that stated explicitly. I've asked.

No information on acceptance abroad and compatibility with the EU system. It also glosses over the required interval after the second dose. It looks like that will be two weeks in the EU.

Thanks for that link, very useful. However, the system doesn't go live until May 17 and if you are not a smartphone user you've got to allow 5 days to get your letter so effectively, you're not going to be able to travel until May 22. That's well thought through UK.

"You can also access NHS App services from the browser on your desktop or laptop computer" according to https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/online- ... s/nhs-app/

However, you do need an "NHS Login" which I suspect is different to the login for my NHS GP (systemonline) and NHS Hospital Clinic (MyChart) which, to be fair, are both weak username-password things not using any of the public keys, certificates, or 2FA tokens I own. I have not yet tried to get an "NHS Login" so I do not know if it is any better and it is already warning "NHS login registrations may take longer than usual when there are high numbers of requests. Registrations will be processed as soon as possible" so I hesitate to add to the strain by requesting one when I have no need for it yet.

The NHS app doesn't use 2FA or a public key, it uses a weak password. You do however need to upload UK issues ID and use your smartphone camera to "scan" your face whilst the screen flashes different colours.

I appreciate the idea but the usefulness comes from recognising. Looking down the list of "Partners" the ones I recognise look mainly like commercial companies who'd be looking to get work/sales from such a scheme. For the public will national immigration recognise their systems, will pubs and cinemas, etc. even be allowed to check such schemes?

You might wait awhile 'til your eligible to travel.

Second vaccine appointments are now running at a 17 week spacing from the first in N Wales.
This is way over the recommended time. Especially for the Pfizer.

Some scientists consider it risky.

"The European Medicines Agency has said that the gap between the first and second doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine should not exceed 42 days."

https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n18

The much lauded UK success of vaccination looks a bit more shaky.
I am personally aware of under 60 year old EU residents who have now had both.

Have you got a source for that, please?

Thanks

Likewise, in NL somebody had both doses (though I don't know which vaccine). And somebody else (again NL) who is 8 weeks between 1st and 2nd doses (again, don't know which vaccine).
