Cogden South Bridge; Grinton Moor
Cogden South Bridge; Grinton Moor
Hi
According to the BBC news this road is now open. Others say the road is still closed. Anyone used it and able to confirm the situation?
Cheers

I wouldn’t trust the BBC but surely this picture isn’t photoshopped is it?

On a cautionary note, North Yorkshire Police has been ferocious in issuing fixed penalties for anybody breaking that forces interpretation of lockdown rules.
Re: Cogden South Bridge; Grinton Moor
Thanks for the updates
Paulatic, the BBC used the same press release but the NYCC highways website shows its still closed. Think I'll trust the fourth estate on this
Thirdcrank, yes the NYP have been very busy but most of the fines seem to be on the coast. Fortunately I live in the Dales so it will be a local ride for me. At the very worst an expensive day out
Planning on Kidstones, Buttertubs and Grinton but can always bail out over Greets Moss
Once again, thanks for your comments

Re: Cogden South Bridge; Grinton Moor
lescargo I think the YH is currently closed. Will take it as it comes. Greets Moss climbs a bit higher in a shorter distance but cuts a couple of km at the far side. Will be a winner in either case
Cheers

Can confirm that the road is fully open as is the Cornmill tea shop in Bainbridge (takeaways only). Exceptional day in the hills
Re: Cogden South Bridge; Grinton Moor
Well done what route did you take.
Looks a good ride post lock down!
I've kept myself off the dales for the past 3 months will be great to get out for some big rides.
Cheers James

Blagged a lift to Kilnsey then followed the TDF route to Masham. That is Kidstones, Aysgarth, Hawes, Buttertubs, Muker, Reeth, Grinton Moor, Leyburn, Masham then home to Pateley Bridge via Dallowgill Moor. 122km + 2150m. Had been considering returning back over Kidstones from Leyburn but couldn't guarantee a lift back
Have done the same route but starting and finishing in Pateley but that requires doing Greenhow Hill as a warm up
Motor traffic was incredibly light and there were a few cyclists about. Nearly everything was closed and the area had a real feeling of lockdown. Unlike where I live. The biggest group was the stable staff at Middleham. One policeman in his van spotted near home

Just remember some newspapers or similar to stuff up your jumper on the downhill bits.
