I caught the third episode of this today, an amusing reading of Felicity Cloakes 2300Km gastronomic journey
across France by bicycle. I've not listened to the first two episodes yet myself ; here's a link to first episode (15min).
Shades of Tom Vernon's classic, Fat Man on a Bicycle ?

I've read the book. Quite amusing, not a bad lightweight read.

I heard an episode/excerpt on R4 (15 min "book of the ..." whatever) and I felt it was 50% about food, 50% over dramatic - not for me (not saying it was bad, just not my type of thing).

I think this is the result of the way it has been abridged. The book itself, whilst still about food, she is a Guardian food writer after all, has considerably more about cycle touring. In fact I was in awe of the distances she covered in all weathers. Yes it is also written for laughs but that is part of its charm in my view. I would certainly recommend reading the book, perhaps as I did cycling up the Normandy coast in 2019.I felt it was 50% about food, 50% over dramatic
