Loch Lomond East side

Post by norts65 »

Anyone know if its possible to get from Rowardennan Youth Hostel north alongside Loch Lomond on a loaded touring bike (not mountain bike). If so, how far does the track go and how rideable? I'd like to be able to ride as far as the top of the loch and connect with the A82.

The West Highland Way goes all the way up the east side of the Loch, however, I’d say from sections I saw when I stayed at Inversnaid earlier this year, parts are not rideable on the type of bike you describe.

There is a good track to about 2 miles south of Inversnaid. Thereafter you will be pushing a loaded touring bike much of the time. You will need to carry it for several short sections. Like this - near the point marked as Rob Roy,s Cave on the map.

I'd look into the ferry.
