I wonder how long the farmer wishes the diversion to last ffor ? a few weeks or till TB is no more ? Sounds like a slippery slope this, if successful many farms will be closing the countryside.

I can think of a farm who still has signs up deterring the use of a path for covid - it's no where near the farm.

I'm lost... is the point here that farmers deliberately switch tags in contravention of the rules?

Thanks

Animal identification tags are sold as being tamperproof. Believe me they are not. I could and maybe should have written a book about all the dodges with tags.
Any inspectors of movement records and trading standards are just that. I never met a poacher cum gamekeeper in my working life.

Here in Scotland we are a clean area and rules apply if I for example bought a calf from a dirty area then I would then be open to extra testing. No one likes all the unprofitable work involved with testing. There are a couple of easy ways around it.

Or another example I put some grazing animals on a farm. The farm is on 6 monthly testing but my farm is only yearly. The fields aren’t double fenced and stock can socialise over the fence. I don’t put that movement in my books or on the database as it will trigger extra testing work for me. The farm takes the payment for a load of forage and no one is any wiser. Only now I’ve got a positive test. Eee well I ain’t got a clue how them animals have contracted it must be them ( insert who you dislike). It’s a mystery ain’t it?

I must add that in no way am I saying this is what has happened with this case. I’m merely making you aware of what can and does happen.
Whatever I am, wherever I am, this is me. This is my life
