Amsterdam hotel recommendations, please

Postby Ben Lovejoy » 9 May 2010, 5:45pm

I'm doing a London to Amsterdam ride in June, and am looking for a reasonably-priced hotel with secure cycle parking.

Any recommendations?

No idea if the bicycle parking is inside, or only in front of this hotel :?

Otherwise, while contacting one of the 26 hosts of 'Vrienden op de Fiets' in Amsterdam, you can always discuss this IMPORTANT element in advance. http://www.vriendenopdefiets.nl/ For a real canal experience, try one of the hosts located on a boat :)
http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/by/fietslogies = 60 cycle tracks along the towpaths of rivers and canals and old railway tracks in Belgium, and the border regions of France, the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg with Belgium.

Thanks - the Bicycle Hotel is quite expensive on the dates we're after. I've applied for the Vrienden op de Fiets membership.

More recommendations welcome, thanks.

I used the youth hostel in the Vondelpark years ago.

Its actually very smart for a hostel and has secure bike parking in an outbuilding (swipe-card access) which is itself in a secure compound. It won't be the quietest place to stay but you can book private rooms.

Thanks, already tried them and they're coming out as expensive as quite posh hotels for the dates I'm after!

What's your itinerary? Netherlands, Belgium, France ?

Hotel sorted now, thanks - will post the details once my co-rider has booked, and report back on it after the ride.

If Stayok is full or too expensive and you want to talk to cyclists instead of backpackers maybe you should try:

Though a "reciprocal hosting" arrangement is not suitable for all travellers, I had great experiences during my trip in America.
