A30 closed between 'Avers and Tolvaddon'

Post by Snakes »

The Highways Agency wish to advise that cycling on the A30 between Avers and Tolvaddon junctions near Camborne in Cornwall is prohibited for the duration of the roadworks which are expected to last until October 2010.

The police are monitoring the situation and may prosecute any cyclists who ignore the temporary traffic order.

Cyclists are advised to use the old A30 now designated as the A3047 to bypass the roadworks. The Highways Agency would also recommend against the use of high speed roads for cycling.

Further enquiries should be directed to the Highways Agency: http://www.highways.gov.uk/

If the roads aren't fit for the purposes of the traffic on them, you'd think the first recourse would be to fix the roads. But no, you can just imagine them trying to work out how to get a permanent order on all 'high speed' roads (limit above 30mph), can't you...

Thanks for that.

Here's the alternative route:

and it's FAR better than being on the A30 dual carriageway at any time, roadworks or not.

Interesting statement, so they admit some roads are not suitable for a group of road users who have a legal right to use them? Is this a failure of duty of care, particularly as some could potentially be minors?
