Until I hear otherwise I shall assume that it is sheer laziness and obstructiveness on the part of coach drivers.
Agreed. It seems to be the general stiffness of the drivers, and perhaps the company they work for, that prevents the cheap and easy use of coaches for moving your Bike around, rather than anything real.
Never had any problems in other countries, even on services where the coach was holding maximum passengers plus full luggage bays.
