Manxman to cycle the world!

Paul has to cycle 138 miles a day for 5 months.... I do really wish him well, and will be watching his website frequently for updates on progress of course. Here is his link....

He pedals off on Wednesday 15 Feb. I will be thinking about him... He has a send off on Wednesday, I am going to see if I can go... (work dependant)

Re: Manxman to cycle the world!
Sounds like cruelty to cyclists.....
Best of luck to him!

Re: Manxman to cycle the world!
All the best to him. Five months is fast going.
It took Sarah Outen 7.5 months to get from London to Tokyo, but she's doing the entire round-trip by human power. (We might be very picky as she's not carrying her boats on her bike or vice versa. But I'm not picky, just in shock and awe.)

The Global Cycle Race starts from Greenwich on February 18 - is Paul joining them or pedalling independently? I didn't see his name in the list of riders.

His name is on the list.
Cancer changes your outlook on life. Change yours before it changes you.
Re: Manxman to cycle the world!
His name is up there now. (Not under "United Kingdom", of course, as the IoM isn't in the UK.)

Well, I've certainly revealed my ignorance again - I didn't even look outside the UK part of the list.
We hope to go down to Greenwich on Saturday to watch them go, so will give Paul a cheer!
Re: Manxman to cycle the world!
Paul is still going strong! What a man...
He is now in New Zealand, and is cycling from East to West in his world record attempt, so I assume he is getting the horrible head winds we all try to avoid
He isnt home until July. Dunno if he is managing his 138 miles a day, but he seems happy enough.

http://tweetedtrips.com/map/42/paul-cycles-world/ tracks his progress around the world. Seems a very useful site for tracking tours etc.
Re: Manxman to cycle the world!
Mike Hall is romping this, 3000 miles ahead of 2nd place
Surely he's on for the record?

Re: Manxman to cycle the world!
Trigger where do you get your info from?
I would love to follow this, but not sure where to go? Something I could say to Paul, is that he hasnt proclaimed his ride to the world very much, and following his progress isnt easy. Be nice to read a bit more of the ride from all the cyclists, but I expect they are a bit busy!

I was following on this link, click on the name on the right and you can visit their facebook /twitter pages with loads of detail

and also this link from Brooks which summarises things nicely

Mike hall is bloody awesome - never heard of him before but he if carries on he will make a name for himself. There have been some dramas, road accidents, illness etc for most.

Re: Manxman to cycle the world!
30 minutes ago, Mike Hall reached Greenwich 92 days after leaving it to cycle round the world. He's smashed the world record as well as winning the race. What a phenomenon! Apart from articles in the Mail and Guardian almost no coverage of this race - the Guardian even had a sour cycle blog about it, http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/b ... -bike-blog apparently because he didn't stop to chat to the locals. Anyway, congratulations to MIke for the most amazing achievement.

I'm afraid I'm with the Guardian's blogger on this.
