Robert Saunders (Tent maker)

Postby dinger207 » 17 May 2012, 7:27pm

Just read in my Camping & Caravanning mag that Robert Saunders, maker of fine lightweight tents, has died at his home in Chignal, Essex. I went to his house to collect my Spacepacker, his workshop was in his garden, a nice man who cared about his product

I have had my Spacepacker Plus (2 person) since 1999 and still as good as new. Although it cost me £210 it is only 2.2kg and packs down to a very manageable size. I too went down to Essex to collect the tent from his home. A nice chap making quality lightweight tents and he would also carry out repairs if needed.

You can read his obituary here.
