Lads just a follow on on this lightweight touring ,
i will be keeping things as light as possible but does anyone know whats it going to take to bend my frame.
seriously though i will be using my raleigh 753 lightweight road frame not built for heavy loads.
will the carradice camper saddlebag put a lot of strain on the rear of the bike,
i put on wider wheels and tyres 28x700 36 spoke.
any advice greatly appreciated.

Would you worry about riding it if you where 2 stone heavier?

The bag support will make a difference: a Bagman will put more strain on the seat lug area (plus seat post and saddle rails), whereas a support like the Nitto R10 will distribute the load more evenly and will be more stable.

carradice new support is something like that, my son inlaw is a fitter so i might get him to weld a couple supports on the new rack.

well i finally got the new version of the QR expedition bagman support, but very disappointed that the seat post clamp is extra  anyway i manages to hook the think up and yeah it's very stable on the bike.took it for a short spin bag loaded up but not fully loaded and everything seems fine,
now to get all the gear i need into it and hit the road
sure hope my lovely raleigh 753 doesn't collapse with all this extra weight.
thanks everyone for all the tips much appreciated.
