Calais to Bordeaux

I am just planing another tour for next june and would like some advice on route choice.

Want an interesting scenic route from Calais to Bordeaux but not via Brittany.

Also like hills so not just canal or river paths.

Any suggestions or interesting places to visit would be most helpful

See my post on Euro route 4. The route we used that year was a good one. The next year we went Calais, Along the coast to Dieppe and then south south west across Normandy to La Rochelle then down to Bordeaux. Don' do it!! Boring as hell!
